This Standard is Suitable For:

course summary

As a Team Leader/Supervisor in a first-line management role, you will be responsible for operational and project duties or managing a team to achieve clearly defined outcomes. Providing direction, instructions, and guidance is essential to ensure the successful attainment of set goals. Key responsibilities may include supporting, managing, and developing team members, overseeing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships both internally and externally.

Job roles are diverse and could be in the private, public, or third sector, and responsibilities will vary based on the organisation’s size. However, the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours remain consistent across roles.

We offer a structured training programme for employed individuals seeking to enhance their skills, collaborating with employers to recruit apprentices seeking placement opportunities. The programme typically spans 15 months, with an additional 3 months allocated for the End Point Assessment for those working 30+ hours a week.

What does the apprenticeship involve?

You will be taken through the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be a Team Leader/Supervisor which include:

You will need to be aged 16 years or over and must be working or applying to work with a company that have agreed that you will be working as an apprentice for this Apprenticeship programme. 

You will undertake an Initial assessment for both maths and English prior to enrolment and have gained a minimum requirement of Level 1. If you have passed maths and English GCSE with a Grade A* to C (grade 4 or above) or functional key skills at Level 2, and can evidence this with certificate/s, you will not need to take the maths and English functional skills qualification within the apprenticeship programme.

how will i be assessed?

There is a variety of assessment methods, you will be expected to complete:

  • Observations of practice
  • Reflective Accounts
  • Written assignments/tasks
  • Evidence gathering
  • Presentations
  • Guided discussions
  • Witness testimony

Once you have achieved your Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor Standard and functional skills, if required, you will be assessed through an end-point assessment which will include two distinct components:

  • A presentation with questions and answers;
  • A professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence.

20% of the training will be delivered off the job and this can include:
Simulation, online learning or training from employers, shadowing, mentoring, industry visits, and support in writing assignments.
