At Sapphire Education & Training, we have created our 3-day First Aid at Work course in response to local employer demand for quality provision that supports them to meet workplace health & safety requirements. Additionally, employers tell us that their workforce feels empowered and are enthusiastic about having critical life-saving skills should they find themselves encountering a situation both in and outside of the workplace. Who Should Take This Course?

The course covers the requirements for employers who are required to have a designated first aider on site. This course is suitable for individuals who wish to be empowered to support emergency scenarios that may occur inside or outside of the workplace.

This First Aid at Work course covers treatment for a variety of injuries and medical conditions.

By the end of the course, learners will know how to assist someone who:

  is unresponsive and breathing

  is unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

  is choking

  is bleeding

  is in shock

  is suffering from burns

  is feeling faint

  has been poisoned

  has suffered a head injury

  is experiencing hypothermia or heat exhaustion

  is having a seizure

  is having a heart attack

  is experiencing an angina attack

  is having a stroke

  is suffering from an asthma attack

  is suffering from a severe allergic reaction

  is in need of emergency diabetic care

The course also includes information on:

  assessing and monitoring a casualty

  where to get the right help

  electrical incidents

  accident recording and reporting

  COSHH (the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Each learner receives a training pack including a host of resources to help them practice the skills covered. Our courses meet and exceed the HSE’s criteria for what is expected of training providers.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a First aid at work certificate which is valid for three years. This course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The HSE requires 18 contact hours for this course. Learners must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment, which is done by continuous observation and questioning during the course.
