Adult Care Worker Level 2

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a term defined in Section 39 of the British government’s Childcare Act 2006. The EYFS comprises a set of Welfare Requirements and a set of Learning and Development Requirements, which must be followed by providers of care for children under five years old – the age of compulsory education in the United Kingdom.

Who Should Take This Course?

This training course should be completed by those who work with children and young people including:

  • New members of staff in early years roles, and

  • Any staff members who work with children directly

Aims of the Course

This course provides an introduction to the Early Years Foundation Stage. Early years practitioners will gain a greater understanding of the framework. Through activities and resources, you will develop your knowledge and skills to help support the work you do in practice.

  • Have a greater understanding of the EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements (2016 version)

  • Understand the EYFS learning and development requirements

  • Have a greater awareness of Early Years Outcomes/ Development Matters statements

  • Be aware of the Ofsted inspection framework and the implications on the setting.
