Business administration is a vital part of any organisation and an apprenticeship is a great way to get your foot in the door. As an employee who knows how the company works, you will become a valuable asset to the team.

This Standard is Suitable For:

As a Business Administator your role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

Your responsibilities will be to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of a Business Administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required will allow you to develop a wide range of skills.

You will be expected to deliver your responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. You are also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others. 

Job roles are varied and business administrators may work in small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

We offer a structured training programme for those in employment who want to learn, and we work with employers to recruit apprentices seeking an apprenticeship placement.

The programme typically lasts 15 months plus 3 months for End Point Assessment for those working 30+ hours a week.

What does the apprenticeship involve?

You will be taken through the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for a Business Administrator which include:

  • Reflective accounts
  • Written assignments/tasks
  • Evidence gathering
  • Presentations
  • Guided discussions
  • Witness testimony

Once you have achieved your Level 3 Business Administrator Standard and Functional Skills, if required, you will be assessed through an End Point Assessment which will include three distinct components:

  • The completion of a multiple-choice test;
  • A project presentation;
  • A portfolio-based interview.

20% of the training will be delivered off the job and this can include simulation, online learning or training from employers, shadowing, mentoring, industry visits, and support in writing assignments.
