Sapphire Education & Training Welcomes the New Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Sue Greenaway to Their Offices in Netherton

news & updates Sapphire Welcomes the New Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Sue Greenaway to Their Offices in Netherton Sapphire Education & Training were proud to welcome the new Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Sue Greenaway to our offices in Netherton recently. The Mayor was paying tribute to the outstanding commitment made by the team at Sapphire Education & Training to the local care sector during the covid-19 emergency. The Mayor heard how Teaching & Development coaches at Sapphire, continued to support care homes & Home Care services during the peak of covid emergency. At a time when social care needed more support than ever, during the lockdowns, the team at Sapphire continued to put on face-to-face training sessions for providers across Dudley, knowing the frontline staff, especially those being recruited to the sector in response to the pandemic staff shortages, needed face to face practical support! Operating within government guidelines at the time by using specialist protective clothing & equipment, the team at Sapphire continued to deliver practical manual handling training, vital medication administration support & basic life support training amongst other crucial training & care worker induction programmes. Lee Wilson, Sapphire Health & Social Care Tutor, continued to deliver face-to-face inductions to frontline care staff throughout the covid emergency. Supporting a large number of home care & residential providers & their staff teams to stay safe and protect their residents & service users at the time. Debbie Swift, Employer Relation Manager & Internal Quality Assurer Health & Social Care, continued to visit care home & home care businesses (where permitted under government guidelines at the time) to support apprentices and care teams in the field. Where one of the home care services that we support training needs for, suffered critical staffing levels due to covid isolations, Debbie did not hesitate to take on support shifts with their organisation to ensure that vulnerable elderly Dudley residents did not go without care. Dudley Mayor, Councillor Sue Greenaway commented: ‘It was wonderful to hear of how the team at Sapphire Education & Training supported care providers across Dudley during the difficult Covid-19 emergency peak periods. Whilst understandably a lot of learning in the care sector went online during this period, The team at Sapphire went above & beyond to support frontline workers in a practical way. Given that a lot of recipients of the training were new to the roles at the time, this must have been invaluable in keeping staff and care recipients safe & well cared for.’
